Membership

Geographical Scope

The Skating Club of Hingham has no geographical impediment to membership.

 

Classes for Membership

The Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham determines the types and number of classifications which divide the membership of The Skating Club of Hingham.  The Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham sets the amounts of the various fees and assessments of The Skating Club of Hingham.  The Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham determines the privileges of the membership of The Skating Club of Hingham.  The Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham provides the discipline for The Skating Club of Hingham.  These Bylaws encourage the membership to take an active part in the affairs of The Skating Club of Hingham.  The membership of The Skating Club of Hingham divides as follows:

 

The Skating Club of Hingham limits full membership to “Eligible Skaters” according to the rules of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFS).

 

Member in Good Standing

A "Member in Good Standing" is defined as a member with no unresolved indebtedness to The Skating Club of Hingham and is not presently under suspension for any violation of these By-Laws and/or the "Rules and Regulations" of The Skating Club of Hingham.

 

Senior Memberships

The Skating Club of Hingham maintains several types of membership for the full time skater.        

             

Home Club Senior Membership

"Home Club Senior Membership" is a full membership available to all individuals who may qualify as “Eligible” skaters under the rules of the USFS.  Home Club Senior Members are subject to all of the rules of The Skating Club of Hingham and are eligible for all of the benefits. Home Club Senior Members in good standing of The Skating Club of Hingham are eligible for full voting privileges.  The voting privileges of those Home Club Senior Members under the age of eighteen (18) who qualify to vote must be exercised by a parent or legal guardian.

 

Senior Membership

"Senior Membership" is a full membership available to all individuals who may qualify as “Eligible” skaters under the rules of the USFS.  Senior Members are subject to all the rules of The Skating Club of Hingham and are eligible for all of the benefits but are not eligible to vote and/or represent the Skating Club of Hingham in any sanctioned competition.

Limited Memberships

The Skating Club of Hingham maintains several types of membership for the less than full time and/or less experienced skater.

 

Associate Membership

"Associate Membership" is a limited membership available to those skaters who desire a USFS membership with no ice privileges on The Skating Club of Hingham Ice.  Associate Members are subject to all of  the rules of The Skating Club of Hingham but are not eligible for any of the benefits, may not contract ice, and are not eligible for voting privileges.

 

Alumni Membership

"Alumni Membership" is a limited membership available to previous Senior Home Club Members of the Skating Club of Hingham over the age of eighteen (18) who desire a USFS membership and limited ice privileges on The Skating Club of Hingham Ice.  Alumni Members are subject to all of the rules of The Skating Club of Hingham and are eligible for some of the benefits, but may not contract ice, and are not eligible for voting privileges.

 

Junior Membership

"Junior Membership,” commonly referred to as "The Rainbow Club,” is a limited membership, available to those skaters who may qualify as “Eligible” skaters under the rules of the USFS, and that, due to their age and/or skating ability and/or the safety requirements of the membership, the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham in conjunction with the Professional Staff of The Skating Club of Hingham, has determined to be of minimal skating ability.  Skaters under the age of ten (10) years may be Junior Members for a period of two (2) seasons only.  Skaters over the age of ten (10) by September 1 may be Junior Members for one (1) season only (Seasons run from September to September).  Junior Members are assigned to the studio rink or to one of the other rinks at the discretion of The Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham and/or the management of the Pilgrim Skating Arena.  Junior Members have limited “Walk On” privileges on Skating Club of Hingham ice, as determined by the "Rules and Regulations" of the Skating Club of Hingham. Junior Members are subject to all the rules of The Skating Club of Hingham and may be entitled to some of the benefits, but are not eligible for voting privileges.

 

Beginner  Membership

"Beginner Membership" is a limited membership available to anyone with a USFS number.  Beginner members are subject to all of the rules of The Skating Club of Hingham and do not have voting privileges or other privileges of the Skating Club of Hingham with one exception.  Beginner members have the ability to contract ice on specific sessions as determined by the Skating Club of Hingham Board of Directors.

 

Application for Membership

Potential applicants for membership must submit an "Application for Membership" to the Secretary of the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham by the preceding Friday by the close of business prior to the meeting of the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham at which action is taken thereon. The Secretary will refer the application to the Membership Committee for recommendation.  Said application will contain at least the name and address of the potential applicant and, an agreement to comply with the By-Laws and "Rules and Regulations,” as well as whatever additional information that the Secretary deems appropriate.

 

Arrears for Dues

Any member 30 days in arrears from the date on the last monthly bill for dues or other indebtedness to The Skating Club of Hingham will be notified by mail by the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham at their last known address.  If the amount is not paid in full within one month thereafter, the name of the delinquent will be reported by the Treasurer to the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham at their next meeting.  The Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham may drop from the roll any name of such delinquent members.  A member dropped from the roll for nonpayment of dues or other indebtedness to The Skating Club of Hingham, may, upon payment of the same, at the discretion of the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham, be reinstated to membership.

 

Arrears for Dues Restrictions

No member in arrears for dues or other indebtedness to The Skating Club of Hingham will be eligible to hold office or entitled to vote or to enter in any test sessions or competitions.

 

Resignation

Any member not in arrears for dues or any other indebtedness to The Skating Club of Hingham, may tender a written resignation of his membership to the Secretary of the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham, who will report the same to the Board of Directors of The Skating Club of Hingham at their next meeting for their action.  The member is still responsible for any remaining dues and/or ice bills for the remainder of that skating season.

 

Board Approval for Competitions and/or Exhibitions

No members of The Skating Club of Hingham will make entry in the name of The Skating Club of Hingham in competition or exhibition except with the signature of an officer of The Skating Club of Hingham.
